Summary:

In an article appearing in Bloomburg Businessweek, Mr. Turley found four principles which he believes leaders in the globalized business world need to focus on: Get the Mindset, Nurture a spectrum of talent, Anticipate the next big thing, and Consensus is not always desirable.  What Mr. Turley believes is that in order for innovation to take place there needs to be new ideas, new thinking and new ways of looking at the world. The common thread between his ideas is diverse perspectives.

It can’t be business as usual as we develop a new global mindset. In order to capitalize on cultural diversity and encourage innovation; leadership needs to bring about a full range of attributes, which include culture, education, skills, personality, and life experiences. Business leaders need to learn from the mistakes of the past and use this information to build the future; such a diverse team of talent requires careful hands on management. Mr. Turley believes the performance of a global business is dependent on how successful the various cultural factors can be integrated and leveraged to solve problems and find new solutions.
