Introduction

The Administrator of DIPU sees the need for training and development of supervisors of the Development Programme. The training is to encompass 90 supervisors and foremen in a 1 year period. Course design, content and all course materials will be developed and provided exclusively by the training firm. The course will be customised for the department using delivery methods such as interactive instructor lead sessions, web based sessions and case studies. On completion of the training a Project Management Package including templates and procedures will be delivered to the division

Background and Motivation

What is the setting and history behind this project?

Major infrastructural projects in Tobago are the under the direction of the Development Section of the Division of Infrastructure and Public Utilities. Over the years there have been significant increases to the size and number of projects being undertaken by the Division. Additionally the advances made in technology have also been significant. Staff training during recent years has not kept up to date with advances made in the industry

What is the problem to be addressed?

As time has gone by the necessary Project Management practices and methodologies have not been undertaken by the Division or developed by supervisors. This has lead to a high rate of failure of projects in the Development Programme.
